Founded in 2001 by Kate Atkinson, Purple Mountain Productions is a boutique production company  specializing in independent film and live stage production.  Purple Mountain's most recent endeavors have been in the musical theatre space.  After acquiring the rights to the late, celebrated singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg's catalog of music in 2012,

Atkinson, with partner Karen Harris under their K-Squared Entertainment banner, penned the book for Part of the Plan, an original, Broadway-aimed musical featuring 19 Fogelberg songs including Part of the Plan, Leader of the Band, Same Old Long Syne, and Longer.  Part of the Plan opened the Tennessee Performing Arts Center's 2018-19 Broadway season to standing ovations, rave reviews, and 15 regional Broadway World Awards, including Best Original / New Work and Best New Musical.   The show is continuing its development in the U.K., under the direction of Marc Bruni (The Great Gatsby, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical).  Purple Mountain is also producing A Very Brady Musical, an irreverent and nostalgic new musical, based on TV's iconic series, as well as American Whore Story - Emmy nominated Naomi Grossman's latest solo show - which won BroadwayWorld's BEST SOLO PRODUCTION for 2023 and enjoyed  an Off-Broadway run at AMT at the end of January.  Next up, Edinburgh Fringe Festival (July 31 - August 26) !
