Kate Atkinson (writer, director, producer)

Kate Atkinson has created, developed, and produced documentaries, narrative films, and live stage productions.
In addition to conceiving, co-writing, and producing "Part of the Plan," the Broadway-aimed original musical, featuring the catalog of Dan Fogelberg, Kate also served as a producer of LA’s smash hit musical entitled “Boomermania” – which ran in Los Angeles for eight months at the El Portal Theater and the Noho Arts Center. Her recent project, "A Very Brady Musical," had a staged reading in NYC in February, to be followed by a virtual presentation in October, and is poised for a national tour.
On the film side, Kate produced a quirky comedy starring James Cromwell, a psychological thriller starring True Grit’s Paul Rae, and a romantic comedy called “The Ones,” in which she also played a leading role. She is also attached to produce a feature film called Since I Don't Have You, scripted by the late, Emmy Award-winning writer Paul Raley (David Letterman, SNL, Grace Under Fire).
Kate's also produced and directed several award-winning short films, which have traveled across the country's film festival circuit, including her first short film, “Enough Is Enough.”
In 2008, she acquired distribution for “McCartney’s Genes," the independent feature comedy she produced in Austin, TX starring Spencer Gibb, Lisa Sheridan, and Ron Livingston (Office Space, Swingers, Sex and the City). Her first film, a documentary entitled “Extra: In the Background of a Dream,” has been distributed both in the U.S. and internationally, and its soundtrack has been regularly featured on NPR’s This American Life. With a strong background in music, Kate has also served as a music supervisor on many of the independent film projects she has produced, both selecting the music and negotiating the licensing from musicians and their labels, including Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Universal Music Group.
Holding an MBA from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg School of Management in Marketing, Finance, and International Business, as well as undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Education, Kate is an active member of Women in Film, Film Independent, the Screen Actors Guild, and the Dramatists Guild.
